Details of activities carried out:

The cadets of NCC Army Wing of Anna University attended the CATC cum IGC Firing Selection Camp conducted by 12 Madras Infantry Regiment, at 12 Madras Army Unit, Pallavaram. The Commandant of the camp was Col. James Jacob, SM. The camp was held between 08 April 2023 and 17 April 2023. The cadets left the NCC unit at 05.45 a.m. and reached the camp at 06.45 p.m. The first day of the Camp was occupied with the Documentation and Room Allocation works. From the second day onwards, the camp activities started with an open address by the Camp Commandant. The theory classes were taken by JCO and NCO staff. They taught about Traps and IED’S, Section formation, Gallantry awards, Army rank structure, Golden Rules for survival in Jungle area, fixing and finding of Traps and IED and various Weapons which are used in Indian Army to the cadets. The Drill classes consisted of Drill Square Test, Various Salutes types, and commanding practice for the volunteers. In the practical sessions, the activities such as Kholna Jhodna of INSAS Rifle, section formation and platoon formation demo, Jungle training and tracking, and shelter making took place. Various Other activities such as showcasing of weapons, ammunitions, airport with plane landing and takeoff, visiting of Aringar Anna Zoological Park at Vandalur, cleaning of camp sites, Guard Mounting and Quarter Guard Visit, Mandir parade were taken place. Various competitions on fitness, Quiz, Public speaking, Debate, Drill were conducted for the selection of the best cadet of the camp. On the final day of the camp, the closing address was given by the Second-in-Commandant Major Jagadeesh Reddy. After that, the cadets departed from camp site at 11.00 a.m. reached and reported to the unit by 12.00 p.m. and dispersed.
